My family and I are looking for a rental home in the Abbeville area and have had no luck for 7 months now. I can not find the classifieds online, although I do look in the paper frequently. We are a small family with a small child and a baby on the way. I am a teacher and my husband works at a local business in Abbeville. We have never missed a rent payment, even in college and we are able to make a deposit with no problem. We simply can't find any listings! We have two dogs, 8 and 10 years old that don't cause any trouble at all, are up-to-date on vaccines and who love everyone- they will be outside 95% of the time in a kennel that we will provide. They are house-trained, but are not house dogs especially with the new baby coming. We just bring them in to eat, to love on, or if the weather is bad. We are looking to buy our first home soon, but need to rent in the mean time. If anyone has any information on where we can rent a home in the Abbeville area, please email me! banderson@cfpcs.org

I have a press release that will be affect hundreds of your readers. John Livingston of AgSouth Farm Credit is retiring after 42 years in the area served by your paper and has worked with a great portion of your readers personally. He has had a major impact on the agriculture and rural communities surrounding Laurens. I would ask that you please post this in your business section as a news release at your earliest convenience. Thank you so much.

AgSouth’s John Livingston Retires after nearly 43 Years of Service

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (December 31, 2015): William P. Spigener, Jr., CEO of AgSouth Farm Credit, announced that after almost 43 years of dedicated service to the association, Regional Vice President John Livingston will retire on December 31, 2015.

Livingston’s Farm Credit career began in 1973, when he was hired as a loan officer for Palmetto Production Credit in Greenwood, S.C. With the exception of a 5-year break, when John moved back to Greenwood, he has been in the Laurens office since 1976. Upon John’s return to Laurens in 1991, he opened the office with zero loan volume and through his hard work and never ending passion for helping the rural communities served by the Laurens office; he leaves a loan portfolio with over $85 million serving approximately 650 customers in Laurens and the surrounding counties. He has held many positions with AgSouth and retires as a Regional Vice President.

John is also very active in the Laurens community, being a member of the Laurens Rotary Club, on the Board of Directors for the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce and Laurens County Farm Bureau, and as a deacon at Cross Hill First Baptist Church. Formerly he was involved in the Clemson Extension Advisory Council, served as a founding member of the Cross Hill Community Fire Department, and served on the initial Board of Directors for the Rabun Creek Rural Water District (now “LCWSC”).

AgSouth’s Chief Credit Officer Owen Smith says that, “John was beloved by his customers as well as those who worked with and for him. He treated the $10,000 customer with as much respect and care as he did the $1,000,000 customer. A tireless worker with a passion for agriculture, John will be missed not only by his co-workers but by the many he helped in the rural communities surrounding Laurens.”

AgSouth member and dairy farmer, Marilyn Easter of Laurens, who, along with her husband Glen, has been a customer of John’s since 1978, adds that “I am so thankful for [John]. He saved the day many times. In the end it’s [been] a partnership, and that means a lot to us.”

As Livingston retires, he says, “I’ve really enjoyed a part of being able to help people make sound financial decisions and then to watch them as they progress and see the results of those decisions and their progress financially; but I leave assured that Preston Culbertson, who has already been working with our members, will be as dedicated as I was.”

For more information, contact Preston Culbertson at 306 Hillcrest Drive, Laurens, SC 29360 or by phone at 864-984-3379 or 800-521-6697.
