Middleton Place is a carefully preserved 18th century plantation that encompasses 65 acres of America's oldest landscaped gardens that include rare camellias, azaleas, magnolias, and ancient live oaks. The house museum contains original family furniture, china, paintings, and portraits. You can learn about the daily life of slaves at a freedman's cabin, slave chapel, and in the plantation stableyards where you'll see a blacksmith, carpenter, cooper, potter, and a weaver demonstrating their crafts. A restaurant, inn, and a museum shop are also on site and plantation carriage tours are available.
