Founded as an outreach to Irish canal workers in 1821, this historic church is the oldest South Carolina parish outside of Charleston. It was originally built in 1824, but was later destroyed by a fire. The church's graveyard holds the remains of many notable Columbia figures including John Niersee, the architect of the State House. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this church was visited by Pope John Paul II in 1987.
