With original oak woodwork, fixtures and leaded stained glass windows, this Queen Ann-style home was the home of Gladys Pyle, the first Republican woman to be elected to South Dakota Legislature, the first woman in South Dakota to hold constitutional office as Secretary of State and the first Republican woman elected to the United States House of Representatives. Gladys was the youngest child of John L. Pyle, who served Dakota Territory and South Dakota as Attorney General, and his wife, Mamie.
