Home of the South Dakota State Historical Society, the South Dakota Cultural Heritage Center is a 63,000 square-foot earth covered building that was recognized by President George H.W. Bush as "one of the six most innovative energy-saving projects in the United States." Historical photographs, maps, personal papers, immigration records, and historical documents dating back to the 1850's are just some of what visitors can view at the South Dakota Cultural Heritage Center.
