This restored Queen Anne-style home was the residence of South Dakota's first senator, Richard Pettigrew. Pettigrew opened his own public museum in the rear of the home in 1925, to display his collection of such items as stone tools, projectile points, Native American clothing, guns, natural history specimens and items related to the settlement of Sioux Falls. He left his home and museum to the city of Sioux Falls to be maintained as a museum when he died in 1926.
