Founded in 1911, and the oldest performing arts organization in Austin, the Austin Symphony Orchestra takes it as its mission to enhance the cultural life of both adults and young people through its concerts and programs. The Symphony is headquartered in Sympony Square, a rich complex of historic limestone buildings and an ampitheatre, and holds its performances in this square. The ASO offers classical, pops, family, casual classic and special attraction concerts; it also provides educational programs to the public.
