Boating is one of the popular sports at this lake that is the "sixth lake down" in a chain of Texas Highland Lakes that are found on and along the Colorado River. The high cliffs that border the shores of the lake in some areas provide shelter from the wind, thus enhancing many boating activities. The lake, actually a section of the Colorado River, has its beginning at the Mansfield Dam and ends at the Tom Miller Dam that is found at the city of Austin.
