There are two sets of falls on the scenic Onion Creek that runs through this park; the park also features the stabilized ruins of the McKinney homestead and a trainer's cabin that were built around 1850 by early settler and horse breeder, Thomas F. McKinney. Swimming is now allowed in Onion Creek, and the park also features eighty four campsites with water and electricity, screened shelters with mattress-less bunk beds, picnic sites, a fire ring, water sites, hiking and biking trails, a dining hall, an amphitheatre, and an interpretive centre with an exhibit room and an audio/visual room.
