A non-profit, 155-acre nature sanctuary, the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center was one of the first nature education facilities for children in Texas. Over five miles of nature trails that includes forest, pond, wetland and meadow habitats, the Discovery Room with hands-on interactive exhibits, microscopes, touch screens and more for learning about the habitats and plant and wildlife found at the Center, and the Nature shop with a wide variety of educational games and toys, books and nature-themed merchandise are just some of what is featured. Nature education is provided for more than 10,000 children each year.
