Ferdinand Lindheimer, a botanist, served as a guide for the German settlers, and was paid in land on the Comal River, where be built this house, which stands as a small monument to Lindheimer who is credited with discovering several hundred plant species, including a milkweed, a loco weed, a mimosa, and a rock daisy. The house is operated as a museum by the New Braunfels Conservation Society and antique and period pieces fill the four small rooms of the wood and fachwerk house. map
