Im in my forties now and frequented this place during the summer mths when I was younger. It was great. The best place to visit while out of school, other than water sking on the lake. My most favorite feature, the zipline.

in the 50's spring lake park had kid carnival type rides and a train that encircled much of the park. I remember fountains and fish ponds along the route. Also people would drive for miles to fill jugs with the water from the natural spring

Great park. The disc golf course needs maintenance. Some holes have no numbers, some have no map. We spent too much time trying to find the next tee box.

visited the park this weekend for the first time in many years and was disappointed to the pool was no longer open. anyone one know when and why it closed? it was about a 10 minute walk from my house and remember many summers days cutting through the woods and past the Zoo to spend a hot day splashing in the sun. every kid should be so lucky to have such a wonderful park at the end of their street!

The story about the spring and lake is that it was found to be lead and chemically contaminated and unsafe to drink/swim in - although I did both for many years!

I also spent many hours at the little amusement park and logged many miles on the steam train ride.

I remember that the train engineer and operator of the park was named Mr. Butts. He and my grandfather were big buddies.

My father and I also spent many an hour flying contoll line models at the paved circle north of the train and lake.

Happy times - long gone. :(
