Currently under the musical direction of Bill Colosimo, The Alexandria Singers is the D.C. area's premier pops chorus. The Alexandria Singers are dedicated to performing American popular and patriotic music, educating and inspiring new generations of singers, broadening their reach to include all groups within the American culture, and celebrating this musical genre by presenting it locally, nationally, and abroad. Originally The Alexandria Community Singers, founded in October 1975, by 16 Alexandria residents, made its debut before the residents of the Woodbine Nursing Home and at the Alexandria Christmas Tree Lighting at Market Square producing a unique and exciting choral experience in the Alexandria area, as they continue to do to this day. In 1988, the organization's name changed to The Alexandria Singers, but the commitment to quality entertainment has not changed. The look and style of the Singers has changed over the years as society, music and musical leadership have changed. The Alexandria Singers continue to perform a variety of music to reach all ages with choreography and staging to add visual interest to the performance.
