Visitors to the 535-acre estate of the fifth president of the United States, James Monroe, can see the president's original possessions in the beautifully restored home as well as visit the service yard rooms and explore the boxwood gardens. Slave quarters were reconstructed on site alongside the original smokehouse and plantation office.
