Open April through mid-November, the Fort Lewis Plantation and Lodge is a Select Registry property situated on 3,200 acres of meadows, forest, river, and Alleghany Mountains, which was once known as Fort Lewis Plantation. The main lodge contains rooms that are furnished in a Shaker-style tradition with private bathrooms. The one-bedroom cabins feature Bob Timberlake-style furnishings, large stone fireplaces, rocking chair porches, and such amenities as refrigerators and coffee makers. The Riverside House comes complete with five bedrooms with queen-size beds and private baths. Visitors can enjoy an unbelievable dining experience of American cuisine in the historic Lewis Gristmill.
