This was the home of internationally acclaimed poet, Anne Spencer, who was part of the Harlem Renaissance and was the only Virginian included in the Norton Anthology of Modern American and British Poetry. The garden, which served as inspiration for much of her poetry, was beautifully and authentically restored in the 1980s.
