Situated within Steamer Company No. 5, which was built in 1849 and is considered Virginia's oldest standing firehouse, this museum is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history of Virginia's firefighters and law enforcement officers, as well as teaching the citizens of Virginia life safety. Many exhibits, extensive archives, an artifact collection, and life saving educational programs are featured at this museum.
