Aquia Landing was the part of the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad. From here, passengers took steamboats up the Potomac River to Washington, DC. During the Civil War, it was a very important and highly sought-after logistical access point. Today, visitors enjoy a public beach, fishing, boating, and picnic areas.
