The oldest government-built lighthouse in America and the traditional symbol of Virginia Beach, this octagonal stone structure is the tallest cast-iron lighthouse in the country and the first of one of three lighthouses to be built by John McComb, Jr. The lighthouse silently guards the entry way into the Chesapeake Bay and has a gift shop on site.
