The best-preserved and most finely crafted of colonial Virginia's Anglican parish churches, this National Historic Landmark was completed by Robert "King" Carter, one of the wealthiest and most influential citizens in colonial America, and it is recognized as the finest colonial church in North America. The church is built in the shape of a cross and original limestone slabs still pave the floor.
