Named in honor of George Washington's mother, who was born at Epping Forest near the village of Lancaster Courthouse, this museum is located in the circa 1800 Lancaster House and it contains a wide range of exhibits depicting life in Lancaster County over its 350 years. Visitors can also see the circa 1797 Old Clerk's Office and the Old Jail which displays the living quarters of the 1828 jailer and a circa 1830 criminal cell while at this museum.
