Nestled in the circa 1872 Old Jail on the Courthouse Green, this museum is dedicated to collecting and preserving the history of Richmond County from prehistoric to present times. Permanent and special exhibits include Rappahannock Indians of Richmond County, Declaration of Independence Signer Francis Lightfoot Lee, February Black History Month, October Archaeology month observances, and First Sunday in December Holiday Tree Illumination.
