Known as "Alexandria's History Museum," this museum collects, preserves, and interprets the history and culture of Alexandria and the surrounding Northern Virginia area. The museum resides in a Greek Revival building which was constructed in 1839 as the city's first cultural center and contains a vast collection of prints, documents, photographs, ceramics, silver, furniture, and Civil War memorabilia.
