I must share a very disappointing experience at Manchester Sports & Clothing. I pass through Manchester maybe once a year. I shop as needed in that community. I stopped at this store and found a very expensive sweater, but I did not have time to try it on before purchasing it. When I went back to the inn and tried it on, it was too small. I wanted to return it and there were very few sweaters and/or other items in the size I needed. I requested a refund only to find out that I had to use store credit. I explained to the owner that I was not staying in Vermont and within a day I would be returning to PA. I would have no other opportunity to use store credit. I was flatly refused any refund and told that I had to use store credit. So I looked around for a long period of time buying items I really did not need simply to use up the store credit. How unthoughtful for a store in a community that is frequented by visitors and out of the area customers. I do not go through Manchester on a regular basis. It would have been the decent thing to have been given a refund instead of forcing me to use store credit on items I neither needed or wanted. I will surely never stop in that store if I should return to Manchester. There are other proprietors that would be more considerate of vacationers and those just passing through. For example, Orvis and the Vermont Country Store. They think more highly of their customers. Not so of the Manchester Sports & Clothing Co. A. Ullom, Pennsylvania
