Formed in 1951, the Norwich Historical Society's exhibit, storage and programming space can be found at the circa 1807 Lewis House. Home to generations of the Lewis family from 1846 until 2003, this house was also the location where town residents came to pay taxes, attend to other town-related business and exchange news. General William E. Lewis, town clerk from 1846 until 1892, had his office in this white clapboard Federal-style house. The Lewis House is open on Wednesdays 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. throughout the year, Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. from Memorial Day weekend through October, or by appointment.
