"Northern New England's largest museum of natural history" was the brainchild of Franklin Fairbanks, a lifelong amateur naturalist whose collected examples of nature's artistry and diversity throughout the world remain the backbone the elegant Richardsonian Romanesque-style Museum. Home to the only public planetarium in Vermont, the Museum holds over 175,000 objects from an eclectic permanent collection, including natural science specimens, historical artifacts, archival photographs and documents and ethnological treasures.
