Located at the edge of the northern Black Hills in Wyoming, halfway between Sundance, Wyoming and Spearfish, South Dakota; this premier archeological site is where Plains Indian groups stampeded bison over the rim and into a deep natural "sink hole," now called the Vore Buffalo Jump, from about 1500 to 1800 A.D. It is believed that up to 20,000 bison were trapped at this one location. Analysis of this site revealed at least 20 bone layers which extend about 100 feet across the sink hole and nearly 25 feet down.
