    "The Daniel Benton Homestead tells the story of 18th century Tolland through the lives of the first three generations of Bentons to live in it." The oldest house museum open to the public in Tolland County and the oldest house remaining in Tolland, this home was occupied by members of Daniel Benton's family until 1932.     One of the five most important remaining examples of early civic buildings in Connecticut, the Old Tolland County Courthouse served all civil and criminal courts in the county until about 1890. The first floor is occupied by the French Canadian Genealogical Society as a library. The second floor has been returned to working courtroom appearance. The back of the courtroom and the upstairs hallway contain exhibits relating to the history of the building and the effects the presence of courts and jail on the growth of the town and its institutions. more...

    "The hub of law and order for all of Tolland County" during the 19th century, this stone county jail was used until 1968.   • Hicks-Stearns Family Museum

    An independent museum, the Hicks-Stearns Family Museum was built in the 1700's as an inn. The house was as enlarged and embellished in the Victorian style in the 1880's. The carriage house, three-story tower, and gingerbread trim were added.
