Gold Rush Days [Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008] Public Square and Historic District , Gold Rush Days are held the third weekend in October. Over 300 art and craft exhibitors gather around the Public Square and Historic District. Included in the two day event are a parade, children's activities, a fashion show, gold panning contest, wheelbarrow race, King and Queen Coronation, hog calling, buck dancing contest, gospel singing and other live entertainment, wrist wrestling, and some delicious food. |

Old Fashioned Christmas [Monday, Dec. 1, 2008] Various Locations in Downtown Dahlonega, This month-long celebration kicks off on December 1 with the Lighting of the Square, followed by a real home-town parade complete with Santa Claus. Festive holiday events continue until after New Year's with caroling, entertainment, wine-sampling, holiday readings by Mrs. Claus and live theater.
