State Parks

High Falls State Park 76 High Falls Park Drive, Jackson, GA 30233, 770-993-3053, 800-864-PARK, Once the site of a prosperous industrial town, this site became a ghost town in the 1880s when a major railroad bypassed it. Today, visitors of this beautiful 1,050 acre park can enjoy the scenic waterfall on the Towaliga River and hike to the remaining grist mill foundation. Indian Springs State Park 678 Lake Clark Road, Jackson, GA 30216, Located in Flovilla, 770-504-2277, 800-864-7275, Thought to be the oldest state park in the nation, this 528 acre park became an official "State Forest Park" in 1927. The Creek Indians used the springs at this park for centuries to heal the sick and visitors today can still sample the spring waters, as well as enjoy amenities such as cottages, camp sites, a 105 acre lake and beach, a museum, a nature trail, and a miniature golf course. more... map


Lakes & Marinas

Lake Jackson Located on Jackson Lake Road, 770-775-4839, One of the first man-made lakes in Georgia, this 4,700 acre lake was built in 1910 to generate electricity and it offers excellent watersports activities such as boating, skiing, swimming, and fishing.


Golf

Hickory Hill Golf Course 209 Biles Road, Jackson, GA 30233, 770-775-2433, A professional 27 hole, par 71 semiprivate golf course that features three nine hole courses played in three 18 hole combinations. The Yellow Course is the longest of the three courses and it features narrow fairways making it a course for the more experienced golfer.
