Old Main Knox College South Cherry and South Streets, 309-341-7757, The only remaining original building from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates. This American Gothic architectural building is a National Landmark.

Carl Sandburg Historic Site 313 East Third Street, Galesburg, IL 61401, 309-342-2361, Located on the south side of Galesburg, across from a park and garden, this home is the birthplace of Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and Lincoln biographer Carl Sandburg. The next door Visitor's Center contains a museum, museum shop, small theater, and a renovated "barn" which is actually a small theatre. The museum contains hundreds of artifacts and modern colorful displays.
