The Eagle Creek State Park

This recreation area encompasses 2,200-acres on the west side of Lake Shelbyville. It features several picnic areas, scattered throughout the park, with grills, tables, water and sanitary facilities. There are 56 Class A reservable camping sites with electricity, showers, water hydrants, fire blocks and picnic tables, along with Class B/S, and Class D sites. This beautiful state park along Lake Shelbyville offers many opportunities for fun and relaxation. There are picnic areas scattered throughout the park with grills, tables, water and sanitary facilities. Two areas are equipped with shelters and facilities for disabled visitors. There are 304 Class A camping sites with restrooms and showers, electricity and picnic tables, and 78 Class C sites, as well as two family tent camping areas, an organized group camp, and an equestrian campground. A four-lane launching ramp is available for boaters, and a swimming beach, in the southwest section of the park, is open from the middle of May to the middle of September. Dam East Recreation Area

A Visitor's Center is located at this recreation area on the southeastern tip of Lake Shelbyville. It features an exhibit and interpretive program in the theatre, along with audio-visual programs and a spectacular view of the lake and dam. Dam tours are given on weekends through the summer months. A shelter with six tables and a large grill, accommodating approximately fifty people is also on-site.Dam West Recreation Area

Named for seven springs on the property, which were used by the early settlers, but have been covered over by natural siltation and vegetation, this state forest occupies 1,200 acres of land, 10 miles southeast of Shelbyville. It includes a large picnic area with a shelter, drinking water, playground equipment, privies, tables, stoves and a fire ring, as well as a small picnic area with tables and stoves. Possum Creek is a Class "C" campground,with drinking water, privie, sanitary disposal station, pedestal stoves, fire blocks and a fire ring, while Shady Grove Campground accommodates groups by reservation only. Hiking & Climbing
Chief Illini trail
Located on the western shore of Lake Shelbyville

This intermediate level, 11mile trail is a registered National Recreation Trail along the western edge of Lake Shelbyville. The scenic point-to-point trail meanders across rolling hills and open prairies offering close-up views of the lake. The trail goes between Lone Point Campground and Eagle Creek State Park.
