The Eagle Creek State Park Located on the west side of Lake Shelbyville, 217-756-8260, This recreation area encompasses 2,200-acres on the west side of Lake Shelbyville. It features several picnic areas, scattered throughout the park, with grills, tables, water and sanitary facilities. There are 56 Class A reservable camping sites with electricity, showers, water hydrants, fire blocks and picnic tables, along with Class B/S, and Class D sites. Three marked nature trails are available, as well as a 12-mile backpack trail for the more adventurous hiker, and a three-mile cross-country ski trail.

Wolf Creek State Park Located on the east side of Lake Shelbyville, 217-459-2831, This beautiful state park along Lake Shelbyville offers many opportunities for fun and relaxation. There are picnic areas scattered throughout the park with grills, tables, water and sanitary facilities. Two areas are equipped with shelters and facilities for disabled visitors. There are 304 Class A camping sites with restrooms and showers, electricity and picnic tables, and 78 Class C sites, as well as two family tent camping areas, an organized group camp, and an equestrian campground. A four-lane launching ramp is available for boaters, and a swimming beach, in the southwest section of the park, is open from the middle of May to the middle of September. Wolf Creek has seven hiking trails, a 16 1/2-mile snowmobile trail, and a scenic 15-mile equestrian trail.

It offers a wide range of boat rentals including houseboats, fishing boats, bass style fishing boats, floatboats, and party barges. Boats, houseboats, motors, an marine accessories are offered for sale, along with propane, bait and tackle, camping supplies, and gas and oil. Seasonal and daily slips are available, as well as fishing guide service and a floating Subway Restaurant.

Sullivan Marina & Campground RR3 Box 289, Shelbyville, IL 61951, Sullivan, 217-728-7338, This full-service marina and campground is located on north Lake Shelbyville. It offers an array of amenities for boaters including covered and open slips; a dock store with bait, boating, and fishing supplies; dockside gas station; boat launching; canoe and motor boat rentals; and fishing guide services. The campground features 130 water and electric sites, along with a convenience store, hot showers and restrooms, dumping station, and ice/ firewood. Also on site is a limited menu dockside restaurant, in-ground swimming pool, volleyball court, and playground.

Dam East Recreation Area Located east of Shelbyville on State Route 16, 217-774-3951, A Visitor's Center is located at this recreation area on the southeastern tip of Lake Shelbyville. It features an exhibit and interpretive program in the theatre, along with audio-visual programs and a spectacular view of the lake and dam. Dam tours are given on weekends through the summer months. A shelter with six tables and a large grill, accommodating approximately fifty people is also on-site.

Dam West Recreation Area Located just east of Shelbyville on 9th Street, 217-774-3951, Several shelters with six tables each and grills are available at this recreation area. The shelters will accommodate approximately 50 people. Also on-site is a large public beach with showers, picnic sites, a volleyball court, and playground.

Hidden Springs State Forest R.R. 1, Box 200, Shelbyville, IL 62465, Located in Strasburg, IL, 217-644-3091, Named for seven springs on the property, which were used by the early settlers, but have been covered over by natural siltation and vegetation, this state forest occupies 1,200 acres of land, 10 miles southeast of Shelbyville. It includes a large picnic area with a shelter, drinking water, playground equipment, privies, tables, stoves and a fire ring, as well as a small picnic area with tables and stoves. Possum Creek is a Class "C" campground,with drinking water, privie, sanitary disposal station, pedestal stoves, fire blocks and a fire ring, while Shady Grove Campground accommodates groups by reservation only. Five fishing ponds and several hiking trails are also available.

Lone Point Recreation Area Located three miles south of Findlay, IL, 217-774-3951, There is a picnic shelter with six tables and a large grill, for up to 50 people, at this recreation area on the west side of Lake Shelbyville. A boat ramp and playground are also on-site. The trailhead of the Chief Illini Backpacking Trail is nearby.

Opossum Creek Recreation Area Located north of Shelbyville, 217-774-3951, Located on the west side of Lake Shelbyville, this recreation area offers a campground, boat ramp, playground. A picnic shelter is also available, which has six tables and can accommodate approximately fifty people.

Chief Illini trail Located on the western shore of Lake Shelbyville, 217-774-3951, This intermediate level, 11mile trail is a registered National Recreation Trail along the western edge of Lake Shelbyville. The scenic point-to-point trail meanders across rolling hills and open prairies offering close-up views of the lake. The trail goes between Lone Point Campground and Eagle Creek State Park.

Aquatic Center Northeast Ninth Street, Shelbyville, IL 62565, Located at Forest Park, 217-774-4343, This city aquatic center offers fun for all ages. It features a frog slide, water slide, one-meter drop slide, wet playground area, sand playground area, concessions/food court area, shaded picnic area, new bath house, several lap lanes and a diving board. The Aquatic Center opens for the season on Memorial Day weekend.
