This annual event, the largest War of 1812 living history event in the United States; is a historical commemoration of the Battle of Mississinewa that was fought December 17-18, 1812. Demonstrations of crafts, food and drink of 1812, field drill, artillery firing, musket and rifle drill, battlefield medicine and surgery and battle reenactments, 1812 foods, including English trap pies, barbecued chops, hearty stews, baked potatoes, French pastries, fry bread and ice cream; recreated longhunter, trapper, voyager and wilderness camps along the river, the largest reconstructed woodland Indian village in the United States, music, songs, stories, and more can be enjoyed during "America's most exciting living history weekend" October 12-14, 2012. more...
