Belle Alliance Plantation (circa 1846) LA Highway 308, Donaldsonville, LA 70346, Located on the east bank of Bayou Lafourche in Assumption Parish, Belle Alliance Plantation was built by successful sugar planter Charles Anton Kock, also owner of St. Emma Plantation, as the centerpiece for his 7,000-acre sugar plantation. This Greek Revival-style manor contains 33 rooms and six great square columns. It is a private residence and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. |

St. Emma Plantation (circa 1847) 1283 South Highway 1, Donaldsonville, LA 70346, 225-922-9225, Located just west of the Bayou Lafourche, St. Emma Plantation is a large mid-19th century Greek Revival-style plantation house furnished with Empire-period furniture. It was owned from 1854 to 1869 by Charles A. Kock, one of the leading sugar planters of Louisiana, and was the site of a Civil War skirmish. The home is open by appointment only and is listed on National Register of Historic Places. |
