Chitimacha Reservation 155 Chitimacha Loop, Charenton, LA 70523, 337-923-4973, Covered with oak and cypress trees and part of the Jean Lafitte National Park and Reserve, the Reservation sits on approximately 260.3 acres. It contains homes for Tribal members, the Trading Post, Tribal Museum, a multi-purpose office building, health department, tribal courts, Cypress Bayou Casino, and a tribal school, among others.

Arlington Plantation (circa 1855) 56 East Main Street, Franklin, LA 70538, 318-828-2644, Located along the banks of Bayou Tech, this Greek Revival-style home is filled with period antiques, many of which are original to the home.

Grevemberg House Museum (circa 1851) 407 Sterling Road, Franklin, LA 70538, 337-828-2092, A restored Greek Revival-style home, the Grevemberg House features a collection of period newspapers, kitchen tools, period furnishings, antique toys, and Civil War artifacts.

Oaklawn Manor (circa 1827) 3296 East Oaklawn Drive, Franklin, LA 70538, 337-828-0434, This Greek Revival-style home, built by Judge Alexander Porter, one of the founders of Louisiana, houses a large collection of rare prints and original oil paintings by John James Audubon. Its gardens were designed to resemble the Gardens of Versailles. It is the home of Louisiana Governor, Mike Foster.

Big Lake Wildlife Management Area P.O. Box 1640, Franklin, LA 71334, Located 12 Miles East of Gilbert, 318-757-4571, 19,231 acres of hardwoods with several small lakes and bayous make-up Big Lake Wildlife Management Area, which is located in Franklin, Madison and Tensas Parishes. Visitors can enjoy hiking, birding, hunting, and fishing while visiting.
