  • Annual Tri-State Wing Off

    The public is invited to come out to the Canal Place Festival Grounds and taste wings from restaurants and caterers from throughout the tri-state area and help crown the 2012 Wing-off Champion on Saturday, June 23rd, from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at the 2nd Annual Tri-State Wing-off. The Tri-State Wing-off is a project of the Western Maryland Jaycees, and proceeds will be used by the Jaycees to help fund community initiatives, as well as programs for its members. As many as 14 wing vendors from Allegany, Garrett, Mineral and Bedford Counties will be on site cooking wings for patrons to sample and each patron will receive a ballot to cast votes for his/her favorites in 5 different award categories. Wings can be purchased and each vendor will have as many as three different flavors of wings for sale. The Jaycees will also be selling beer and wine and other beverages at the event. In addition to sampling wings, event-goers will enjoy a Car & Motorcycle cruise-in with help from ABATE of Western Maryland, display booths from area businesses and non-profit organizations and kids activities. Plus, the Canal Place stage will be active throughout the day with performances from the Tri-State Community School for the Arts Rock School student ensemble, the Mountain Ridge High School Jazz Orchestra, Gina Powell & Her Electric Band, Tony Haan and Taylor Hill, Jared Mullins, Hondo and Delta Curve from Nashville, TN.  more...
