  Comprised of two professional training programs, a main-stage performances series featuring renowned contemporary dance artists from around the world, community outreach activities and the Community Dance Project that invites local residents to participate in an intensive creative collaboration with a choreographer and Festival dancers, which occurs on alternate years; the Bates Dance Festival "brings together an international community of choreographers, performers, educators and students in a cooperative community to study, perform and create new work." Programs in 2010 will take place from June 25 until August 8.

  Established in 1973, this community local arts agency presents four performance series during the year including a Mainstage series that features live performing arts events in dance and music from across the country and the world. They also host an annual art exhibition and auction that showcases the works of 60 Maine artists.
