This three day event features tours of historic homes, churches, the 1857 Monroe County Courthouse, and cemeteries, as well as an antique and classic car show, a tea room luncheon, Civil War Symposium, and a 5K Run/Walk.Visitors can also enjoy the Boy Scout Pancake Breakfast,Lions Club barbecue, re-enactments of the Civil War and several other events, including tours of the beautiful restored James Creek Missionary Baptist Church, located on the grounds of the Adams-French mansion. Tour our beautiful historic homes, constructed back when "cotton was king." Included on the tours are grand antebellum and Victorian mansions built by 19th century planters and merchants. Elkin Theatre
The Art Nouveau-style Elkin Theatre is an old part of Aberdeen history. It shows one current movie every Friday and Saturday night and sometimes is home to art exhibits, dance recitals, and plays put on by the public Jr. High and High School. It also hosts the town Christmas play.
