Robidoux Pass 1 mi south on hwy 71, turn west and go 8 mi, 308-436-6886, Western traffic flowed through this pass from 1843 to 1851. Left to the road is a monument for the blacksmith shop, to the right are pioneer graves. Reconstructed trading post in Carter Canyon Rd.

Scotts Bluff National Monument 10 miles south of Gering on hwy 71, 308-436-4340, A majestic landmark used by the Indians, fur trappers, pioneers, and modern travelers. Oregon Trail still visible. Museum tells Oregon Trail story.

Wildlife World See over 250 species of animals in their natural habitat and area fossils at the Wyo-Braska National History Museum.

Buffalo Creek Recreation Area 9 mi south on hwy 72, 2 mi east and 3/4 mi south, One-half mile walk to fishing lake, picnic area, and wildlife area.

Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area 10 miles south on Nebr 71, 308-436-3777 or 308-436-3394, Beautiful and rugged, treat for backpackers, hikers, campers, and shutterbugs. State game refuge has buffalo and elk.
