The site upon which this park now sits was originally a cranberry farm and packing plant, and the site has also seen a succession through the years of several timber companies, with sawmills that dated back to the mid-Eighteenth Century; the park now includes historic structures that date back to the Nineteenth Century, a restored sawmill, and a restored cranberry sorting and packing house.
