State Parks

Cave Lake State Park 15 Miles Southeast of Ely off Highways 6/50 & 93, 775-728-4460, The 32-acre reservoir at Cave Lake State Park is popular for trout fishing, boating, picnicking and camping. Facilities include campgrounds, picnic areas, hiking trails and a boat launch. Winter sports such as ice fishing, cross-country skiing and ice skating are also available. Ward Charcoal Ovens State Historic Park 775-728-4460, Six 35-foot high beehive-shaped brick ovens built to produce charcoal for the smelter serving the gold and silver mines at Ward. They were built around 1876 and are very well preserved.

Ward Mountain Recreation Area 825 Avenue East, Ely, NV 89301, Located 6 Miles Southwest of Ely on U.S. 6, 775-289-2132 or 775-289-3031, Situated in at the foot of 10,800-foot Ward Mountain, the Ward Mountain Recreation Area features 17 single RV sites, five group areas, an amphitheater, a playground, baseball field, volleyball court, and a horseshoe pit.


Bowling

Golf

White Pine Golf Course 151 North Golf Course Drive, Ely, NV 89301, 775-289-4095, With spectacular views of the Schell Creek Mountain Range on the east and the Egan Mountain Range to the southwest, you will find a wonderful place to slow down, relax and play a few rounds. This is a regulation 18-hole, par 72, 6,843 yard golf course. The course staffs a PGA golf professional recently from Reno who has 14 years experience. Other amenities include a snack bar/cafe, a practice range, putting green, a short game area, golf cart & equipment rentals and tennis courts.


Swimming

McGill Swimming Hole Open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, this public outdoor swimming pool is where many of the youth from Ely, McGill and Ruth spend their summers. You can stretch out on the sandy beach, play on the slides or diving board, or catch guppies in the shallows. It is located near the McGill park at the north end of town.
