The music is quintessential Rossini with hilarious ensembles and magnificent arias. La Cenerentola is a story perfectly suited to Rossini's depictions of surprise, confusion and disguise. It's a colorful and vibrant stage presentation as well that no one will want to miss. Performances take place Friday, February 9 at 8:00 pm and Sunday, February 11 at 2:00 pm.  more...

  • Orpheus in the Underworld
    P.O. Box 3256 • Reno, NV 89505
    775-786-4046
It is a satirical spoof on a tale of true love based on the classic legend of Orpheus and Eurydice. Orpheus in the Underworld takes the form of a zany romp through this world and the mythological world of the gods. Critics have called Orpheus in the Underworld a much-appreciated but rarely performed masterpiece. Nevada Opera takes pride in being the first opera company in America to present Orpheus in the new critical edition by French musicologist and conductor, Jean-Christophe Keck. One hundred and fifty years after the composer's death, the scores for the production fell into disarray and each performance was unique due to the lack of a definitive score. However, the edition to be performed in Reno reflects the composer's original intent. Performances take place Friday, April 27 at 8:00 pm and Sunday, April 29 at 2:00 pm.  more...
