In the 19th century, Seguin was the center of experimentation with using concrete for houses and public buildings and it became known as the "Mother of Concrete Cities." Today this Greek Revival-style house which sits on 2.2 acres of its original 4-acre site is one of the best surviving examples of early concrete construction in United States and is a Registered Texas Historic Landmark and is in the National Register of Historic Places. Its permanent exhibits include family furnishings, archeological artifacts from the site, as well as the building process and restoration of limecrete. The Heritage Museum features rotating themed exhibits regarding the area’s immigrant and ethnic heritages. These pieces come from private collections of photographs, paintings, arts and crafts, and memorabilia.
