Come enjoy the only airport in Bastrop County, Smithville Crawford Municipal Airport (Hwy 71 at Hwy 95) for this annual event. A fun afternoon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with planes, pilots, guessing games, children's games, a hamburger/hotdog lunch ($7), prizes, simulated flying games, and a Young Eagles class. You never know what else might be happening. Courtesy van to go into downtown is available. Everyone is invited.

Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., The Empty Bowl Project is a national grassroots effort to fight hunger. The basic premise is simple: potters and other craftspeople, educators, and others work with the community to create handcrafted bowls. Guests are invited to a simple meal of soup and bread. In exchange for a cash donation, guests are asked to keep a bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. Movies, film contests, stunts, classes, and more in downtown Smithville. The Smithville Music and Film Commission is gearing up for their annual Reel Film Expo. All ages are invited to join as they host this interactive two-day event featuring stunt demonstrations, location tours, screenings, seminars, networking mixer, green screen acting, student film contest, and pechakucha. You never know which famous folks will be on hand to introduce their production. The Reel Film Expo is free to all attendees.
