Bronson-Mulholland House, The (circa 1854) 100 Madison Street, Palatka, FL 32177, 386-329-0140, Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this imposing landmark home was built by Judge Isaac Bronson, a U.S. Congressman, and the house overlooks the St. Johns River. The house has an interesting history which includes Confederate soldiers using the attic for a lookout when Union forces were approaching on the river during the Civil War, in which the Union troops eventually occupied the building, and the house was also the site for a school for freed slave children after the War.  |

Historic Tilghman House (circa 1884) 324 River Street, Palatka, FL 32177, 386-325-8750, This three story, Georgian house is flanked by heavy matching end-wall chimneys and features a steeply pitched gable roof accented by a paladin window and a half gabled verandah supported by Greek Doric columns. The house is now the home of the Palatka Art League, an artists and artisians cooperative gallery which is open to the public Tuesday thru Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. They offer classes, a place for small group meetings, and luncheons. Between the weeks of November and December, they have their annual Christmas House event.  |
