Big River Block Party
Located behind 300 block of Main, in downtown

Held in August, this annual Block Party features a huge car show with cars, trucks, tractors, and bikes. Other events include a Car Cruise, entertainment, live bands, a dunk tank, sanctioned Arm Wrestling Contest, 50/50 raffle, Horseshoe Tourney, and more. Specials will be offered in all of the restaurants and bars in Savanna, during the Block Party.

Since 1962, this not-for-profit, professional, summer stock theatre has been offering a challenging mix of musicals, new plays, and contemporary classics. Housed in the original frame structure with a wide semi-thrust stage with a revolve, and 375 fixed seats, this is the oldest continuous operating summer theatre in Illinois. The Resident Company consists of 25 - 30 persons, selected by interviews and auditions in nine cities across the country, along with several volunteer performers and instrumentalists.
