Gueydan Duck Festival [Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008] Held at Various Locations in Gueydan, Usually held the weekend before Labor Day in the "Duck Capital of America," the Gueydan Duck Festival highlights the hunting heritage of the Acadiana region. Festival activities include duck and goose calling contests, skeet shooting, hunting dog trials, decoy carving, a parade, pageants, outdoor and indoor cooking contests, an auction, arts and crafts, and a carnival. Live entertainment and fantastic food will also be available.

International Rice Festival [Friday, Oct. 17, 2008] 559 North Avenue F, Crowley, LA 70526, Located in Downtown Crowley, The Rice festival is one of Louisiana's oldest and largest agricultural festivals. Generally held the third week of October, the festival features parades, entertainment, a rice-eating contest, rice-cooking contest, the 5K Rice Festival Run / Walk, and much more., 337-783-3067
