The interior of the dome has been reworked to its 1918 luster as part of a lengthy plan by the commissioners to restore the courthouse.

Genealogies and histories important to the area are also housed in the former residence of General James W. Denver. Denver was known throughout America. After he left Clinton County he became a senator from California, secretary of state, and commissioner for Indian Affairs for President James Buchanan.
