Chester Nimitz, Fleet Admiral in the Pacific during World War II, grew up in Fredericksburg and this museum complex is located in the old "Steamboat Hotel" once owned by his grandfather. The Kammlah house and store, built of stone in 1849, anchors this museum complex which features authentic structures built by Texas' German settlers, along with their handmade artifacts.
