Cooper Cabin Pioneer Homestead (circa 1810) Cooper Road near Cabot off Route 356, Butler, PA, Located 9 Miles South of Butler, 724-238-8116, Furnished with family heirlooms, memorabilia and other period pieces, the cabin was an original county homestead that was enlarged after the Civil War. Cooper family descendants remained in the cabin until 1963. An extensive herb garden as well as such outbuildings as a spinning house and a springhouse can be seen. Little Red School House, The (circa 1838) 200 East Jefferson Street, Butler, PA, 724-238-8116, The first public school built in Butler as a direct result of the Public School Act of 1836, the Little Red School House was used as a classroom until 1874. Since then, it has been used as an office, Butler’s first public library, a meeting room and a center for the Red Cross during World War II. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the house and its furnishings were bequeathed to the Butler County Historical Society in 1986.
